Solar Panels DIY – Why Green Energy?
Are we running out of oil?
Oil Company’s have more and more trouble to find fresh source natural oil.
So what to do next,do we have options?
Yes we do:
1. cut beck on energy use (huh)
2. chose more energy star appliance
3. find out where and what in a house consumes most of energy.
4. convert yours home to Green Energy (homemade solar panels,we will talk more about this solutions later on)
5. use a smart solar landscaping – can dramatically cut summer and winter energy cost
Well u may ask where does the power come from?
According to California (PG&E)currently produces 47% of its power from natural gas,20% from nuclear,16% from hydroelectric,
and just 2% from coal fuel.
Around 15% is produced from renewable sources,like a biomass/waste,solar,small hydroelectric and wind sources
Now lets talk about How Much Does Home Energy Cost?
Well…
Recently (EIA)- Energy Information Administrations figured out the national average residential fuel costs and divided
it the typical fuel appliance efficiency to come up with some interesting comparisons( take a look):
1. Electric resistance heat costs $33.25 per million Btu’s
2. Propane in a central heating system cost $24.66 per million Btu’s
3. Oil in a central heating system costs $18.53
4. Natural gas in a central heating system costs $12.61 per million Btu’s
5. Wood heat costs $9.09 per million Btu’s
6. Coal heat cost$9.06 per million Btu’s
As you can see electric heat costs more then three times as much as coal or wood heat!!!
You may ask: “so how much do electric appliances cost to run?”
1. Natural or propane gas furnace heater-$160 to $300
2. Electric baseboard or central air heater $160 to $500
3. Frost free refrigerator $20 to $37 per month
4. Water heater- electric $37-$90, gas $12 to $30 per month
