does it take longer to heat water in winter?

does it take longer to heat water in boiler in the winter than in the other season. as takes much longer than necessary. 2 wks earlier it was fine now theres a problem. happened after new pump was fitted. repair guys says because it colder now. not convinced. UK resident.

You haven’t given us much of a clue re your system. But I assume you have a hot water cylinder. The water temp difference in two weeks shouldn’t be great. Maybe the pump speed is set too low. there should be a switch on it. Turn it up one position. This will send hot water around the HW cyl faster which should improve matters. Also as the circuit was opened up to fit the pump there could be a partial air lock in the pipework. Next to the HW cyl there should be an air vent screw. It will be located on the top of the flow pipe from the boiler about 2/3 down on the side of the cyl. The one that gets very hot! Open the vent screw and bleed off any air that may have collected there. This will ensure that you are getting a good flow of HW from the boiler to reheat the cylinder.
The other thing is, people often forget to turn the temperature up on the boiler itself in cold weather. If the actual boiler temp is low (not the room thermostat) you will never get really hot water from your HW taps. Hope I haven’t sent you to sleep.
